Challenge 38 - Mid Month Reminder

Hi everyone!

How is the month of April treating you?  The leaves are beginning to come out on the trees, little lambs running around, Mr and Mrs Duck getting ready for a new family - spring time is a wonderful time.  Do you find it all inspiring?

Is the world of masking a bit daunting?  Here are some useful links to Barbara's tutorials, just click on the links and watch the YouTube tutorials.

Groovi masking
Stamp masking
Stencil masking

If you feel a little unsure just pop along and watch them, you can pause and craft along with her or maybe you would be interested in coming along to one of the many Clarity workshops around the country, where we can help hone those skills?  Check out for the workshop page for locations, dates and times.  New members are always very welcome!

Here are some more inspiring works of art from our Design Team.  Don't forget you can click on their names or the picture to link to their personal blogs for more information.

We look forward to receiving your entries and don't forget the Calendar challenge too!!

      Challenge 38

The clocks have leapt forward an hour

And Spring is in the air - well almost!!!

This month we're going to delve into the world of masking, no not the type you wear for DIY, snorkelling, or fancy dress parties, but the world of masking crafty style.

Whether you use post it notes, the wonderful Clarity masks, or for the very brave you've got masking fluid.

Barbara herself has given us many examples of the masking technique over the years.

The clever cutting out of a stamped image on post it notes...

Using paper and/or post it notes to close off areas to create an abstract design...

The famous sun and moon masks...

The letter box set onto post it notes...

We even have backdrop scenes of skylines to play with...

And now we have the custom made masks for those trickier stamps...

Are you able to mix masking with Groovi??  Well this one is very simple as you don't need post it notes of pieces of paper!!!

(Guest Designer - Winner from challenge 36)

Hello, my name is Mary, also affectionately known as Mrs B, Gert, Mum, Grandma and Grannyasaurous.

I was born, and have lived all my life, in Eckington Derbyshire with my husband who happily indulges my crafty habit.  Together we have three super children who with their partners have presented us with seven priceless grandchildren.

My creative story is much the same as a good many more.  My Mum taught me to knit when I was very young, but over the years I have knitted, crocheted, sewn, tried home decor, cross stitching, scrap booking and many more things crafty.  I spend quite a bit of time making cards with plenty of occasions just in the family.  My new found favourite at the moment though is groovi.

January was the first time I had ever entered any challenge, and then to be chosen as February's winner was amazing.  Being invited as a guest designer for April's masking technique challenge proved to be very challenging indeed.

I have followed Barbara for a long time on TV and through her  blog and own a gelli plate, speedball brayer, Clarity brushes and several Groovi plates (then new wee houses and shops are so cute), but the only Clarity stamp I own is the small but perfectly formed rose which came as a freebie with my Clarity brushes.  I do however intend to put this right with the aid of my gift voucher.

I hope you like my take on masking, I took my inspirations from the colours of Spring.
