Spotlight on Maggie Johnson - Top 5 from challenge 4

We thought it would be nice to have spotlight posts throughout the month dedicated to our top 5 from the last challenge "MR & MRS".  We hope you enjoy reading about their crafting journey, you never know it could be you in the spotlight next month.

I'm 63 and married with two children and four grandchildren all of which demand a lot of my time!!!

Like most crafters I started early, creating my own outfits in the swinging 60's ugh!  then the babies arrived and the knitting started.  As the family grew up I got involved with flower arranging and had the honour of helping to decorate York Minster.  By now the grandchildren had started to arrive so the cross stitch birth samplers and quilted cot covers took priority.

At last Sky tv and a record button, just so I can watch in peace.

Thank you Clarity stamps for all the inspiration and fantastic designs.  Now I just need to win the lottery and I can go to craft heaven.

Spotlight on Doreen Sympson - Top 5 from challenge 4

We thought it would be nice to have spotlight posts throughout the month dedicated to our top 5 from the last challenge "MR & MRS".  We hope you enjoy reading about their crafting journey and it could be you in the spotlight next month.

I live on the south coast in a village called Bracklesham Bay with my husband Derek.

I started crafting the way many of us do with my mother teaching me to knit and sew at a very young age.

I've done most things like clothes making, quilting and lace making to mention but a few.  I never once thought I would be addicted to stamping as much as I now find myself thanks to Barbara and her brilliant lessons!

A friend of mine who like the cards I make using kits etc said one day that I might like to watch Barbara on C&C, but this was quite a way before the lessons started.  I thought there was no harm in watching as my friend had hyped Barbara up so much I felt compelled to watch.  Well that was it, once seen never forgotten and I was hooked!

The first time I met Barbara was at Alexandra Palace and I think I must have spent most of the money I took with me on the Clarity stand and have been buying her stamps and slowly learning the techniques ever since.

I had my first workshop last year and I'm going again to the West Meon workshop this year.  I hope next year to be able to go to the Cowden retreat, funds permitting.

I was so proud to have come in the top 5 and could not stop telling people and was grinning like a Cheshire cat all day at work

that they were nestling in the trees

Spotlight on Dawn Lawson - Top 5 from challenge 4

We thought it would be nice to have spotlight posts throughout the month dedicated to the top 5 from challenge four "MR & MRS".  We hope you enjoy reading about our crafters and maybe it could be you next month.

I live just outside of Edinburgh with my very tolerant husband of 23 years, Mark, and our fantastic 3 children.  I've never been able to draw or paint but I've done lots of different crafts since I was little, having been taught to knit and crochet by my Mum and Grandmothers from a very early age. I also used to embroider BC (before children).

My other passion is cycling and belong to a women's cycling club in Edinburgh, Hervelo, and love planning routes and taking part in cycling events and sportives.  Needless to say I don't have any time for housework!  My husband has also developed the same interest over the last 18 months and this is where my inspiration came from for my card for this challenge!

I've made cards for a very long time using pressed flowers and stamps.  I took a bit of a break when the kids were little but Clarity stamps have reinvigorated my love of card making and stamping with their amazing range.  I just happened across "In the Classroom" one day, it was the split tree lesson and I was hooked.

Having joined the New Design Club last year I knew I wanted to make use of my "be the change" stamp.  I also wanted to practise my promarker colouring skills so decided to use the butterfly from the pretty petals kit.  Throw that together with my favourite colours and here's what I came up with.  I'm very traditional, don't think out of the box easily, but am always inspired by the amazing artwork the people submit on the Clarity website and facebook page.

Here's Dawn's anniversary card to her husband which was
inspired by their love for cycling

Thanks for sharing your crafty background Dawn!

Challenge 5

Welcome to a new month and a new challenge here at the Clarity Stamp challenge.

Since the last challenge Barbara has had a chance to take a break with Dave and the family in France in an idyllic cottage. Doesn't it look lovely?

For those of you following the stories on facebook, they all spent the evenings playing trivial pursuit and having great fun. Let's hope Barbara has come back all nice and refreshed and ready to do battle with the every day grind of business again.

The next DVD is going to be recorded mid month so we will be bringing you updates on that, there are more workshops and then of course we have the "In the Classroom" and the Clarity shows on Create and Craft on  Saturday 6th July and Sunday 7th July.

Don't miss Clarity Take 2 with Maria Simms on Tuesday 16th July, more details coming up with show times.

********

Last months challenge "MR & MRS" was certainly a popular one with those romantics amongst you wasn't it?  It also linked up nicely with the release of the New Design Club stamp "Lovebirds"!  We had quite a few entries using this stamp but they were all so different and using different techniques.  Zentangle also seemed to make an appearance in the challenge entries too.

The lucky winner of the £50 Clarity voucher and our top 5 can be found in the post below.

Here's the theme for our new challenge which will run
throughout July:

Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside
(using Clarity stamps ONLY)

We thought we'd try and entice the sun to stay out with some seaside fun and frivolity.  So grab your swimming costumes and "kiss me quick" hats and come and join us down on the beach to make some sand castles.  There may also be some ice cream and candy floss for you too!

For this challenge we'd love to see your take on fun in the sun so the possibilities are endless, but don't forget you can only use your Clarity stamps.  We have some great ones to choose from in our nautical section or seaside set if you're stuck for ideas.  The Clarity Stamp design team have had their own ideas on this theme too.  If you'd like to know which stamps they've used please visit their personal blogs by clicking on their projects.

There are several ways of entering the challenge:
  • BLOG - if you a blog, click on the blue froggy link below and follow the instructions, remembering to link to your blog post and not just your blog
  • EMAIL - if you don't have a blog you can send a photo of your project to us and we'll enter it for you
claritystampchallenge@hotmail.com

If you have any questions relating to this challenge please don't hesitate to contact us.  We will answer as quickly as we can in the hope that we can make the Clarity Stamp Challenge go from strength to strength.  We can't do this without you!

We hope you have fun with this challenge and we can't wait to see your projects.  You have until 20.00 on 31st July (GMT) to enter.
